Wczoraj w jednej z najbardziej popularnych sieci kawiarni Starbucks na wygodnym krzesełku wylegiwał się w najlepsze... kot. Cóż, taki niecodzienny widok już mnie nie dziwi. Nie dziwi mnie również, że ani klientom ani nawet samej obsłudze kawiarni kot nie przeszkadzał. Mimo, że jestem ogromnym sympatykiem zwierząt, bezdomny kot w miejscu gdzie serwowane jest jedzenie bardzo mi przeszkadza.
W Turcji takie instytucje jak schroniska dla bezdomnych zwierząt nie istnieją. Uliczne koty i pasy są wyłapywane, kastrowane, szczepione, znaczone a następnie wypuszczane na wolność. W wielu parkach spotkać można bezdomne zwierzęta, którymi opiekują się okoliczni ludzie. Psy, które są tutaj sporych rozmiarów nie przejawiają oznak agresji, jednak czasem boję się przechodzić obok nich z małym dzieckiem. Mimo, że Turcy nie są skorzy do trzymania zwierząt w domach, opiekują się ulicznymi pupilami z ogromnym zaangażowaniem. Często spotkać można koty lub psy, które należą do bloku lub sklepu. Tylko w Izmirze widuję koty i pasy śpiące razem. Jak widać nawet najwięksi wrogowi mogą żyć w symbiozie.
